Frequently Asked Questions – Leap of Faith
How much money do I have to raise to jump?
The minimum amount of pledges you need to raise in order to jump is $700. Not to worry! My first jump was last year and I couldn’t believe how easy it was to raise the money. When you tell people that you are going to jump out of a plane the money pours in! Make sure you tell all of your friends & family and include the event on your Facebook page.
Can my friends and family watch?
Of course! The more the merrier! There will be lots of things going on to keep them busy while they’re waiting for your big moment. Everyone is also invited to the by-donation BBQ. When you register you can keep us updated with an approximate number of guests so we can order lots of food! (Dogs are not permitted. Children must be supervised.)
Where does the jump happen?
The jump takes place at Skydive Vancouver’s dropzone in Abbotsford. 5112 Gladwin Rd, Abbotsford, BC Canada.
Who are the Skydive Instructors?
Skydive Vancouver has the most experienced staff in Western Canada. Their highly experienced instructors have over 50,000 skydives and 170 years of combined experience.
Can I get pictures or video of my jump?
Yes! Your friends & family can take photos of you as you get ready and from the ground as you jump. The landing area is fully visible and anyone on the ground can easily take photos of your landing. If you would like to capture the jump from in the air, Skydive Vancouver offers a variety of photo/video packages ranging from $89-195. Click here for details.
In accordance with safety regulations, no one under 200 jumps may carry a camera for the jump.
What should I wear?
Dress comfortably and for the weather. We will provide you with a jump suit, goggles, and a soft shell helmet. Make sure you wear closed-toed, lace-up shoes. Remember – the free fall is 200 KPH.
Are there any weight/height/age restrictions for jumpers?
Jumpers need to weigh over 90lbs and under 220lbs. If you are within a few pounds of the weight restriction, contact us for confirmation). Anyone under the age of 18 needs written parent’s consent and under the age of 16 they will need a consenting parent present with them at the centre. Parent and child will both need to bring government-issued ID.
Jumpers may not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If the weather is unsuitable for skydiving, jumpers will be notified via email by a.s.a.p. If the weather is questionable, check your email often on jump day. If you don’t have access to a computer you can call the Skydive Drop Zone at 604-854-3255.
If we do have to reschedule, our backup date is Thursday, July 16th at 5pm. Please let anyone who is coming to watch you know if the date changes!
What happens at jump time?
After a short briefing, your small group (4-5 jumpers) and your professional instructors will take to the skies in one Skydive Vancouver’s unique aircrafts. Enjoy the 15 minute flight to altitude, taking in the scenic views of snow-capped mountains, rivers, lakes, downtown Vancouver and the Gulf Islands. You will then experience the magnificence of human flight at over 200KPH in freefall, followed by the quiet serenity of a surreal canopy descent. Steer the parachute if you like, or relax and enjoy the scenery and a soft landing back at the drop zone. Then you’re off to celebrate with friends and family at our by-donation BBQ!
