Hundreds gathered at Skydive Vancouver on Thursday, July 10 for the 16th annual Leap of Faith event, a tandem skydiving fundraiser in support of Cyrus Centre’s work with at-risk and youth experiencing homelessness.
By the end of the day, $153,571 had been raised—an all-time high for the event. The funds will help young people have access to safe housing and vital resources through Cyrus Centre programs such as Home at Last.

Good Food, Big Laughs, and a Loads of Fun
The crowd enjoyed a sunny afternoon of food, music, and family-friendly activities with MC Cliff Prang keeping spirits up on the mic. Vendors including Tacofino, Helm’s Mobile Kitchen, and Banter Ice Cream offered meals and treats by donation. Children and young people enjoyed balloon twisting, face painting, and bouncy castles, while DJ Simon Bridgefoot kept the music flowing throughout the event.

Jumpers of All Ages and Stories
Skydive participants ranged in age and background. The event’s youngest jumper was 12 years old. The oldest, Nelson, age 95, completed his 14th leap and has personally raised over $100,000 for Cyrus Centre through his years of participation.
“I started doing this to help raise funds for Cyrus Centre. It gave me something meaningful to continue with after retirement. I didn’t know if I’d make it this year, but here I am,” Nelson shared.

Abbotsford Mayor Ross Siemens and Councillor Dave Sidhu also participated in the jump, while Councillors Dave Loewen and Patricia Driessen, along with School Trustee Rupi Rajwan, attended in support.

Thank You to Sponsors
The event was made possible by many generous sponsors, including presenting sponsor Longboard Architecutrial Products. Their support, along with that of the broader community, ensures young people in need have access to shelter, meals, and life skills support.

Cyrus Centre extends its sincere thanks to everyone who donated, volunteered, attended, or shared in the day’s success. For those who would like to be part of next year’s event, the waitlist for Leap of Faith 2026 is now open
