LES TALVIO – EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Les Talvio is the Executive Director and co-founder of Cyrus Centre Ministries. Growing up in East Vancouver, including many years as a street kid, Les has spent the past 32 years working with vulnerable youth and homeless individuals, providing direct services, advocacy, staff training, program development & community awareness. Les has received several awards and distinctions for his work but none compare to when he sees a positive change for the youth Cyrus Centre serves. Les currently is in Alberta assisting in program planning and building relationships there. Les has been married for 41 years to his loving wife Kristin; they have three children, six grandchildren, and their four-legged child, “Hemi,” a mini Bernedoodle. Les has also been an award-winning BBQ Pitmaster, having competed professionally for four years, taught BBQ classes, and continues to share his passion for BBQ.

MATT LOEWEN – REGIONAL DIRECTOR

Spring of 2023 we welcomed Matt Loewen and his family to Cyrus Centre. This includes his wife Fify and their two boys, David and Michael. Matt spent the first half of his career helping start an international NGO, building out a team, and managing youth-oriented programs in Sub-Sahara Africa. After moving back to Abbotsford, he applied his networking and partnership-building skills to grow the distribution of the food bank to reach more seniors and marginalized communities. He spent the last year working with a fundraising agency, helping a range of clients across Canada lead more people toward generosity by creating compelling fundraising campaigns.

Tammy Vriend – Executive Assistant

Tammy has been with Cyrus Centre since 2019 working as the Administrative Assistant. When you call, it just might be Tammy that is answering the phone.  In her spare time, Tammy loves to spend time with her family and friends.  She would like to say she’s a camper, but really, she’s a glamper with a trailer, but she still enjoys being outdoors.
