Pathways Engagement Project 2019
Issues surrounding youth at risk in Chilliwack have emerged as a priority in several local initiatives, particularly regarding overdose and housing . In early strategic planning stages of the Chilliwack Overdose Community Action Team, stakeholders recognized the importance of youth at risk. In response to the issues, the Cyrus Centre in Chilliwack procured provincial Overdose Emergency Response Centre funding through the Community Action Initiative to initiate a peer engagement project with youth at risk of overdose . The project, named by youth peer leads as the Pathways Engagement Project, explores the views of youth who have experience with substance use and/or have navigated substance use services in Chilliwack . The project gathered the stories and views of over 70 individuals between the ages of 16-29, as well as many service providers, parents and loved ones and the community.
