Cyrus Centre has teamed up with Scrap Cars Not Kids to raise awareness and offer services to prevent and end the exploitation of youth in the Fraser Valley. Many youth living in homelessness exploit themselves just to have a warm shower or a roof over their heads. Cyrus Centre and Scrap Cars Not Kids are working together to make sure ALL youth in the Fraser Valley have access to housing, showers, laundry facilities, food and services at NO cost. Cyrus Centre offers 24 hour support to youth who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and you can help ensure that ALL youth have access to a safe place simply by donating your scrap metal!
Scrap Cars Not Kids is helping eliminate the exploitation of children and youth both locally and globally. Scrap Cars not Kids has its home base in Abbotsford, BC and raises funds in the Fraser Valley and Vancouver Lower Mainland through picking up and receiving donations of old cars and other household and industrial ferrous and non-ferrous metal.
The money raised through donations funds the work of registered charities and nonprofit organizations that work to fight child exploitation, locally and worldwide (organizations including Cyrus Centre!). The exploitation of children is a an international problem that exists in Canada and North America, not just overseas. Child exploitation issues include poverty, homelessness, human trafficking and sex trafficking of children.
